Hidden Gem of Goa  - Tambdi Surla

By Divyakshi Gupta

About 40 kms from Ponda, inside the Molem wildlife sanctuary lies the Mahadev temple of Tambdi Surla.

The forest is surrounded by lush green forests and natural streams.

The entrance is through a pebbled pathway and one has to walk 5 minutes from the car park.

Though small in size, this 13th century stone temple has ample character.

The architecture resembles temples of karnataka especially of Dharwad and Belgaum.

The temple is built in soft stones which make intricate carvings possible.

Inside the main sanctum is a Shivling and outside there is a stone Nandi.

The temple reflects Chalukyan Hoysala architecture features.

Peaceful surroundings, natural beauty and witnessing a 13th century old temple, what else can an offbeat traveler ask for?

The journey is as beautiful as the destination with ample cashew plantations on either side of the road.
