Offbeat Treks in India: Kamarajar Valley
By Divyakshi Gupta
2 hours from Madurai, near the town of Dindigul, lies Kamarajar Valley, nestled between the Palani and Kannivadi hills
Right opposite the Kamarajar lake, is a homestay run by a Dutch couple, called Double Dutch, a rustic and cozy homestay
From Double Dutch, you can go on a one day waterfall trek amidst brambles, bushes and boulders.
From the homestay you begin walking on the road, along plantations and then enter fields.
Soon you realise, there is NO trail and you have to make your way through bushes, following the sounds of streams.
The steep climb over the boulders is absolutely worth it when you finally reach the waterfall and take in the views
What can be better than dipping your feet in cold, refreshing, crystal clear water originating from the forests?
And to take in the mesmerising, surreal views of the Palani hills from the top, after the arduous climb?
The best way to end a trekking day is to relax by the Kamarajar lake, spot some birds and catch a sunset like this one.
