Temple Doors of Tamil Nadu
By Divyakshi Gupta
Temples of Tamil Nadu are known for their spectacular architecture which dates back to centuries and historic eras.
Apart from awe inspiring stone work and carvings, another element that stands out in temples here are the exemplary Doors!
Even the smallest temple here will have the most colourful, elaborate door.
While most others will have tall, massive doors like the one at Varadaraja Perumal temple in Kanchipuram.
And this yellow beauty at the entrance of Ekambareswar Shiva Temple in Kanchipuram.
Some will be surrounded with stone carvings with scenes from Ramayana and Mahabharata like this one in Ambasamudram.
Some will be surrounded with colourful frescoes and paintings like this one in Ranganathaswamy temple in Trichy.
While some will be simple but have so much character around them in terms of statues and paintings like this one in Madurai
